History

Révillon Frères (Revillon Brothers) was a French fur and luxury goods company, founded in Paris in 1723. Then called la Maison Givelet, it was purchased by Louis-Victor Revillon in 1839 and soon, as Révillon Frères, became the largest fur company in France. Branches were opened in London in 1869 and in New York in 1878. At the end of the 19th century, Revillon had stores in Paris, London, New York, and Montreal.

Rester Jeune, 1936:
"Revillon, presents us in very beautiful bottles of art, a limited edition, a quartet of perfumes of exceptional quality; all are prepared with rare essences of flowers, plants and fragrant wood, without synthetic products. It is: Latitude 50, Amou Darya, Tornado, Egoiste; enough to satisfy all feminine and even masculine tastes, because Egoiste is advertised as a men's fragrance."

Through its fur buying bureau in Leipzig, Germany (1876), and an agency in Moscow (1905), the company bought most its furs from the markets of Moscow, Leipzig and at the annual fairs in Nizhny Novgorod (Gorki) at the Makaryev Fair and in Irbit at the Irbit Fair.

From wikipedia:

From 1908-1909 Revillon Freres opened fur trading posts in Siberia, Mongolia and Turkestan. By 1912 Revillon Frères had 125 fur trading posts in America and Siberia.

In the 1960s, Revillon acquired Grauer Furs, New York's preeminent fur manufacturing company. Grauer Furs was founded by Austrian immigrant William Grauer and later operated by Grauer's two sons, Abraham and Herman. In 1970, in a deal negotiated by Herman Grauer, Revillon became the fur supplier to Saks 5th Avenue. This arrangement lasted until 1995.

In 1982, Revillon was acquired by hypermarket operator Cora, and became its luxury division Cora-Revillon. Subsequently, Cora-Revillon became a separate company, now privately owned, with Revillon as its primary brand.

Besides furs, Revillon produces perfume. Revillon bought Caron on the death of M. Daltroff in 1940, and acquired Millot in 1963. Parfums Révillon is now part of IFF.

Revillon introduced cosmetics such as Fluide, Eau Merveilleuse, Lait de Beauté de Revillon Nov’oyo, and face powders.

This is a new start for the iconic French fur house Revillon, founded in 1723.

In 2011, Andrew Heather was appointed Artistic Director of the brand, after almost 15 years at Givenchy Haute Couture, and the inevitable fur House opened a new shop in Paris on the prestigious Avenue Montaigne, at number 40.

For Revillon, the designer offers a modern approach to fur with luxurious and high femininity collections.

In honor of this revival, the house Revillon revived the history of perfumes and offered the original fragrance of its iconic essence Detchema, created in 1953, in limited edition.. Available exclusively in the new store, which quietly opened in mid-September 2011, only 1,000 100-ml. units of the scent had been produced, each retailing for 180 euros, or $234 at current exchange. Housed in a reinterpreted version of its bottle design from the Seventies, the fragrance’s formula remains unchanged.
