Cantilene by Revillon c1948

Cantilene by Revillon: launched in 1948. The name refers to a musical term.




Fragrance Composition:


So what does it smell like? It is classified as a soft aldehydic floral amber fragrance for women.

  • Top notes: aldehydes, bergamot
  • Middle notes: rose, jasmine, orris
  • Base notes: ambergris, vanilla, sandalwood, oakmoss, tonka bean, labdanum, patchouli

Bottles:


The deluxe parfum bottle was designed by cubist artist Fernand Leger and represented an abstract ripple of water frozen in glass. Cantilène was also presented in the brandy snifter flacon used for other Revillon scents.














The Eau de Cologne flacon was a tall, tapering bottle with a screw cap.










Fate of the Fragrance:


Discontinued, date unknown. Still being sold in 1953 but at drastically slashed prices.
